Synopsis: The friends and lover of a gay man must overcome tragedy and each other in this Italian ensemble drama.
Quick review: Davide and Lorenzo are the perfect gay couple, both beautiful and successful. They have a group of friends, some straight, some bi, some gay, that they see often. The friends have become Lorenzo's family since he left home after coming out to his father. Life is hardly perfect, but Lorenzo seems to appreciate the good and truly cares for his friends. One night during a dinner party Lorenzo faints and is rushed to the hospital. Now his lover and friends face the prospect of losing him forever, while at the same time dealing with the turmoil in their own lives. That includes a husband who has fallen in love with another woman; a young woman who has decided that her life will never amount to much and therefore abuses nearly any kind of drug; a jealous former lover who has never gotten over losing Davide; and a new young writer who is obviously in love with Davide but friends with Lorenzo. It's about then that Lorenzo's father arrives with his new wife. He is still struggling to accept Lorenzo's homosexuality and is meeting Davide for the first time. This is a good gay ensemble film from Italy (and I haven't seen a lot of gay films from there). It's hardly an upbeat film, but for many gay people across the world their friends, crazy as they may be, are there family. So many gay people should be able to relate to this film.
