Quick review:
Billy Lee Tucker's penis was severely damaged in a freak hot tub accident. The incident, and his mother's desire for attention, dominated the national news for a few days and he became known as Bloody Billy. His mother continued to milk it for all the attention she could get, including an appearance on the Phil Donahue Show with other boys who were considered freaks. As the years go by, Billy leaves his home in Mississippi and travels to New York where he finds success as Fox E. Bottoms, a gay porn star. But when this film opens, that success is gone. He's nearing 30 and has gained weight and deeply resents all the young men who have taken his place. His best friends have their own problems, including a former co-star who misses the spotlight and a gal pal that seems more interested in Bloody Billy than she does Fox E. Bottoms. Two others drive this story: A childhood friend from Mississippi who seeks redemption and a strange pharmacist who promises that he can make all of Billy's problems go away. This is a low-budget film, and it shows. It hopes to be as quirky as any John Waters movie, but it doesn't have the humor of that director. It's actually a very sad story of a life gone bad. It's hard to like any of the main characters and some of them, such as the pharmacist, are just plain spooky.
