Quick review:
I don't subscribe to Here!, and from what I've seen, I don't want to. The business plan must be making a lot of movies with gorgeous men running around with their shirts off, throw in some long, make-out scenes, and call it a wrap. Personally, I want more. The only thing scary about this film is what they did to Edgar Allen Poe's story. I don't mean the gay angle. I mean the changing of the ending and the who point of the story. Vincent is overseas when he receives a letter from his former best friend, and possibly lover, Roderick Usher. The letter states he must return and that Roderick and his twin sister Madeline are in a desperate situation. When he arrives, he catches up on old times and makeout a bit, with both of the twins. But something is spooky about the house and three photos of former handymen. Vincent tries to figure out what before he becomes a victim. What was scary on paper in the mid-1800s is not scary on screen in 2008. A house does not stalk. And the house they chose is just not that spooky. Actually looks like a nice place. Plus, there are essentially, outside of the ghosts, four people in the cast. In most horror films you have at least a dozen so you can find creative ways of killing most of them off. Not the case here. I was bored by this film.
