Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild

Year: 2008
Country: USA
Director: Todd Stephens
Starring: Jonah Blechman, Jake Mosser, Jimmy Clabots, Aaron Michael Davies, RuPaul, Brent Corrigan, Scott Thompson, Lady Bunny, Will Wikle, Colton Ford, Mario Lavandeira, Stephanie McVay
Synopsis: The four boys from the first film head to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. for spring break and enter the "Gays Gone Wild" contest to see who can have the most sexual encounters before the week is up.
Quick review: First off, no one watches these sophomoric gross out films because they are Best Picture candidates. Being a bad movie is half the fun. And there is obviously a market for it, because they keep making them. I guess 12-year-old boys just keep coming. Very early in the film the mother of one of the characters looks right at the camera and says, "If you make too many gay movies, people will think you're gay." I suspect that was a shot at three of the actors from the first film, "Another Gay Movie," who decided not to be part of this one. They may have also stayed away because if you make too many bad movies ... Nico is the only character who hasn't undergone an extreme makeover. Jonah Blechman is the one actor back from the four leads in the original. The first problem with this film is that the three newbies look nothing like the original cast members they replaced. It was a bit difficult trying to remember who is who. But the biggest problem with this film is there is nothing original in it. If you've seen two previous gross out films, you pretty much see everything coming long before it arrives. But then the 12-year-old audience it is geared for probably hasn't seen those films and will enjoy this. The director, Todd Stephens, made a cute coming of age film in "Edge of Seventeen." Despite the threat of Another Bad Gay Movie at the end of this film, let's hope Stephens returns to making conventional films.
