Kiss Me Deadly

Year: 2008
Country: USA
Director: Ron Oliver
Starring: Robert Gant, Shannen Doherty, Fraser Brown, John Rhys-Davies
Synopsis: An ex-spy had carved out a new life as a successful photographer. But his happy gay lifestyle is threatened when agents from his past track him down with a new mystery.
Quick review: Robert Gant, who is gay, plays gay in this suspense film. He's a former top agent, Jacob Keane, who gave up that life when the Cold War ended. Now, he's a top fashion photographer, has a gorgeous boyfriend and shares a daughter with a lesbian friend. All of that could be lost when a former agent leaves a voice mail that she's in trouble and needs his help. When he meets her, something has happened and she has lost all her memories. He has to convince her that he's a friend, and then try to find out why someone is trying to kill her. And keep his boyfriend and daughter alive as well. The refreshing part of this film is that being gay is just part of the story, and not the story. But that is also the only twist that makes this film stand out from your average spy movie. Is it as good as a James Bone or Jason Bourne story. No. But it is a nice suspense film and there are worse things in the world than watching Robert Gant for 82 minutes.
