Quick review:
Brendan Fraser plays a gay man in a committed relationship. For the most part, he's happy. The one strain has been with his parents, who have never fully accepted the fact that he's gay and still refuse to let him bring his partner over for family events. But through all that turmoil, he's been able to count on his sister, Suzanne (Jennifer Beals). But now Suzanne has announced that she's pregnant. Her husband, who works at a groundbreaking genetics lab, has convinced her to have a test done to determine if there might be anything wrong with the child genetically. The test comes back and shows there is a high probability that the child will be gay. Suzanne and her husband need to face that fact, all the while keeping this information away from her gay brother. I like films that throw out a topic for debate. If you could tell if a baby would be gay, would you bring it into the world? Today, it's not that big of a deal in most places on earth. But if you were in a repressive country where being gay could mean death, the decision gets harder. This is a decent family drama film with some terrific performances.
