Synopsis: The companion documentary to 'Before Stonewall,' looking at what has changed for gay Americans since the 1969 Stonewall riots began the modern gay civil rights movement.
Quick review: Everything changed for gay Americans on the night of June 27, 1969. A group of gays tired of being targeted by the police decided to fight back at the Stonewall Inn on that night, forcing America to accept that gay men and women are their neighbors, their co-workers, their family and their friends. And they were no longer going to sit back and accept second-class status. On that night, gay America came out of the closet. Everything since has been the rest of America trying to adjust to that fact. As a fan, I enjoyed 'Before Stonewall' more, because it was harder being gay then. Everything that happened in 'After Stonewall' happened during my lifetime. There are some major events featured in this film, including the AIDS crisis, Anita Bryant, Harvey Milk at others that have played huge roles in gay history. It's a good motivation film on the progress being made over the long run, something to cheer you up if current events are getting you down.
