Synopsis: This documentary looks at what it was like to be gay before the 1969 Stonewall riots that marked the modern start of the gay civil rights movement.
Quick review: I was a history major in college, so anything that looks back on history is going to appeal to me. Especially when it is as personal as gay history in America. The documentary tells the story when nearly all of gay America was in the closet and the struggles they faced simply to meet others like themselves and avoid blackmail, arrest or discrimination. Many of the pioneers for the gay civil rights movement are featured and their stories told. It's an excellent bit of perception for any young gay person interested in the history of this struggle.
